A teenager paid to have his mother murdered after she refused to let him play computer games, Russian prosecutors said yesterday.
The 14-year-old allegedly gave two youths he met outside the building where he lived in Moscow a mobile phone, 1,500 roubles (£30) and some of her jewellery for carrying out the crime.
The boy, identified only as Ildar, telephoned police to say he had found his mother dead when he came home, the victim of an apparent burglary.
But when detectives arrived Ildar, whom neighbours described as well-behaved and polite, broke down and said he had paid two youths, aged 17 and 18, to kill her.
Police believe he left the door open for the killers and took the family dog for a walk. His mother, Nailya, 35, was stabbed more than 10 times.
Ildar, Andrei Kosteyev and Denis Filimonovare are being held on murder charges.
